Compaction creates a bounded continuation summary when the active model context becomes too large.

/compact focus on the failing release path

Preserved state

Original messages, tool calls, results, approvals, usage, and artifacts remain in the session ledger. The compacted context is a new model-visible representation.

Use

Compact when the same objective should continue with less context. Use handoff for transfer, branch for an alternative, or checkpoint and rewind for an exact earlier boundary.
